Job Description
Business Job Title: Hardware Engineering Manager
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Manager with a background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering to lead and contribute to our dynamic engineering team. This hybrid role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who thrives in both individual contributor and managerial capacities. Approximately 75% of your time will be spent on technical design and development, while the remaining time will focus on team leadership and project oversight.
Essential functions—essential functions, including how an individual is to perform them and the frequency with which the tasks are performed; the tasks must be part of the job function and truly necessary or required to perform the job.
Job duties to include but are not limited to;
- Lead the Hardware design drafters and engineering technicians. Current direct reports of 4 individuals.
- Conduct and lead design reviews, ensuring technical accuracy, compliance with standards, and manufacturability.
- Review and approve 2D drawings and 3D models for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to design intent.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and designers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless product development.
- Follow and drive Product Lifecyle Process (PLP) for all new programs.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables to meet business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and documentation.
- Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgement in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices.
- Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
- A commitment to excellence and exemplary internal and external customer service.
- Is recognized as an expert in own area within the organization.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management of engineering team members.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education Requirements
Years of Experience: 10+ years of engineering experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
Additional Qualifications:
Highly knowledgeable in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar) for both 2D and 3D design.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, design for manufacturability (DFM), and GD&T.
Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with PLM systems and engineering change processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards relevant to your discipline (e.g., UL, CSA, CE, ISO, ASME).
- Background in product lifecycle management and cross-functional team leadership.
- Experience in performing internal product and process audits.
- Ability to write clearly about highly technical subject matter
- Capacity to analyse a problem from multiple perspectives and explore creative solutions

(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant and alignment with internal and market data.)
