JOB SUMMARY

In this position, you will be responsible for implementing GeneDx Disaster Recovery Program. Your duties will include coordinating with cross-functional teams, establishing Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), Maximum Tolerable Downtime (MTD), overseeing backups, and ensuring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met. You will collaborate closely with a range of business units and departments—including technology, People team, laboratory operations, legal, marketing, and others—to ensure disaster recovery processes are properly maintained, regularly tested, and continuously improved.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and document disaster recovery plans and procedures for critical business applications and infrastructure.
  • Determine Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to evaluate potential threats across operations, regulatory, cybersecurity, natural disasters, and technology.
  • Create, update, and publish disaster recovery-related policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ensure annual updates and validations of DR policies and procedures to maintain readiness and resilience.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity best practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date inventories of assets, applications, and critical data necessary for recovery operations.
  • Collaborate with security architecture and software development teams to integrate disaster recovery into the SDLC and solution rollouts.
  • Perform regular disaster recovery testing, including simulation exercises, incident response simulations, tabletop exercises, and actual failover drills to validate procedures and identify improvements.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of backup, recovery, and continuity processes.
  • Coordinate post-incident reviews and update recovery plans based on lessons learned and emerging threats.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and audit requirements related to business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Train staff and educate employees on disaster recovery processes, their roles during incidents, and adherence to disaster recovery policies.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

 EDUCATION/TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or Business Administration.

 EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of similar or related experience in such fields as Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Enterprise Operational Resilience.
  • Working knowledge of Disaster Recovery professional practices, including Business Impact Analysis, disaster recovery plan (DRP), redundancy and failover mechanisms DR related regulatory requirement , and Business Continuity Plan exercises and audits.
  • Ability to motivate, influence, and train others.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical and operational issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), EC-Council Disaster Recovery Professional (EDRP) are, or Disaster Recovery Certified Planner preferred.
