Responsibilities
- Accurately registers all patients entering facility for medical services.
- Performs all aspects of the registration process with excellent customer service.
- Verifies patient insurance and benefits as needed at time of service.
- Ensures completion of all regulatory forms and processes as required.
- Attends all required department meetings and hospital-wide meetings as assigned.
- Completes all required education and training for hospital employees and department specific requirements.
- Embraces new processes, procedures, and applications, which can enhance processes.
- Communicates and builds relationship with inpatient and ancillary departments to ensure patients are registered appropriately for all services.
- Completes other duties assigned by Patient Access Manager and/or Revenue Cycle Director.
Additional Functions
- Cheerfully cross-trains for other department positions to ensure coverage in the event of absence or illness as assigned by Patient Access Manager.
- Assists in department organization by printing necessary additional forms, maintaining downtime form readiness, etc., as assigned by Patient Access Manager.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum one (1) year of experience, hospital, or clinic registration.
- Strong oral, and written communication skills as well as computer skills and a track record of excellent customer service.
- Minimum one (1) year of general insurance verification experience.
- Able to interpret insurance coverage as returned by insurance verification website or insurance company portals.
- Excellent multi-tasking in a challenging fast-paced environment.
- Must possess excellent people skills and critical thinking skills.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required, college degree or some college preferred.
