Position Summary
The VP, Business Solutions Delivery – Claims & Operations is responsible for delivering a program of change in support of the Claims & Operations domain. As part of the Domain Leadership, they provide strategic input to the domain objectives and are responsible for translating those objectives into a suite of achievable, tangible deliverables. They deliver measurable change to achieve the Domain's strategic objectives.
Principal Accountabilities:
Domain Leadership
- With Domain Leadership, translate domain-level operational plans into actionable initiatives
- Contribute to domain strategy and operational plan development.
- Lead delivery impact analysis, selecting metrics to track effectiveness and alignment with target outcomes and identify areas for future improvement.
- Facilitate prioritization within the domain with domain leadership and value stream teams.
- Ensure organizational cost, impact, and strategic alignment are considered when prioritizing initiatives for the Operational Plan
- Manage domain budgets, track value realization, and align with financial and operational goals.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build trusted relationship within their domain and wider business network.
- As part of Domain Leadership, engage with key business stakeholders to understand their strategic goals, and challenges.
- Update the domain head and senior business stakeholders on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Coordinate with Business Transformation team on broader suite of organizational initiatives.
- Collaborate with Application Support Lead to meet platform support needs
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Responsible for building the overall domain roadmap and ensuring sufficient resourcing to meet the prioritized initiatives.
- Coordinate delivery teams for seamless execution and provide hands-on delivery expertise across domain, working across, and into, Value Streams as needed
- Effectively deliver change management of improvements across the domain.
- Where a Value Stream Lead is not fully dedicated to the Domain, provide additional support in areas such as creation of Value Stream roadmap, oversight of delivery and team management.
- Where the Domain Lead is not fully dedicated to the domain, provide additional support in areas such as strategic planning, development of operational plan, budget, team management and coordination of large-scale transformation initiatives.
People Leadership

- Identify improvement opportunities, coaches for development, and plans for succession.
Domain Knowledge & Strategic Input
- May provide business expertise in one or more areas of the domain, acting as business design lead and driving product vision and roadmap.
Organisational Skills
- Own scoping, definition and mobilisation for large/complex initiatives
- Coordinate project planning, tracking and risk management across the domain.
- Manage/own strategic vendor relationships.
- Facilitate discovery workshops and planning sessions and develops roadmaps and plans.
Analysis, Business Solution Design & Delivery
- Conduct analysis to support key decisions, refines problem analysis and solution design as understanding increases.
- Conduct review of business areas/business processes/technology solutions and identify areas for improvement.
- Understand the need to balance functional and non-functional requirements and ensures technical features are embedded in platform planning.
Innovation
- May maintain external relationships to understand industry trends and identify valuable innovations.
- May lead a team of professionals, ensuring team members have the required business, delivery and technical expertise to support their area of the domain
Problem Solving:
- Demonstrate proactive approaches to problem-solving with solid decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with tools and techniques for recognizing and resolving organizational, operational, or process issues.
- Ability to apply problem-solving knowledge to various situations effectively.
Process Improvement
- Experienced in strategic change with strong business transformation technical skills.
- Experience with operational improvement tools, qualitative and quantitative analysis and financial modelling.
Expected Competencies:
- Degree in relevant discipline or at least 10+ years relevant work experience e.g. product management, business change roles
- Extensive experience in program and change management
- Domain knowledge in Claims, Operations, Delegated Authority or Retrocession preferred
- Insurance / reinsurance experience
- Possess a deep understanding of processes for delivering business change and technology solutions.
- Strong experience in a dynamic business change or product management organization with the ability to influence across both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent people and management skills to interact with colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties.
- Strives to improve existing processes, products and procedures within business change, the domain and the company.
- Proficient using collaboration and presentation tools such as PowerPoint, Teams, JIRA.
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups and facilitating prioritization, requirements, and workshops
- Experience managing 3rd party vendors
- Proven experience and skill with key competencies: client and stakeholder focus, collaboration, communication, execution and performance, leadership and strategic thinking
