The Electronics Engineer is responsible for the development of electronic subsystems for demanding motion control technologies. In this role you will be responsible for the design and troubleshooting of new products, with a strong focus on performance and quality in a highly regulated domain. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and deliver best-in-class motion control solutions.
Key Accountabilities:
- Design and analysis circuit card assemblies featuring control and power electronics as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Develop and debug FPGA and embedded microcontroller modules
- Participate in commissioning and testing of products
- Develop test plans and support testing for developmental and production products
- Develop technical documents for product development, including commissioning/ qualification reports, technical drawings/schematics, instructions and manuals
- Support the sales team in business development activities including liaising with customers, preparing tender documents, supporting training, and other customer and internal events
Qualifications:
- Minimum: Degree in Electronics / Mechatronics / Embedded Systems or similar engineering discipline
- Preferred: Masters in Electronics / Mechatronics / Embedded System or similar engineering discipline
Work Experience:
- Required
- 3+ years experience in a relevant product development role
- Desired
- 5+ years experience in a relevant product development role
- Experience in firmware development, in particular employing FPGAs and microcontrollers
- Defence and manufacturing related experience, knowledge of designing to EMI/EMC requirements and testing especially relating to MIL-STD-461 & MIL-STD-810
- Sneak circuit analysis experience
- Experience in implementing communications based on SPI/RS422/RS485/CANbus/Ethernet
- Experience in modelling using MATLAB/Simulink/Python etc.
Skills:
- Required
- Proficiency in design, simulation, lab testing, and debugging of PCBAs
- Knowledge of motion control and control theory and implementation
- Good understanding of electronics in relation to brushless DC motors and their applications
- Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem-solving abilities including root cause analysis
- Strong writing skills for technical documentation and reports
- Desired
- Proficiency in VHDL and ModelSim
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with customers, key stakeholders and peers
Suitability:
- Hybrid working - minimum three days on-site per week (or as required)
- Ability to travel internationally in support of development efforts
Eligibility:
- Must be an Australian Citizen and can obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance
- Must satisfy police checks and employment screening verification including employment reference checks
- Must be able to access information controlled under the US International Traffic of Arms Regulation (ITAR) which in some circumstances can place limitations on persons who hold dual nationality, permanent residency or are former nationals of certain countries as per ITAR 126.1
