About The Position
We are seeking a financially driven, detail-oriented Project Control Manager to lead our accounting and project finance operations for a portfolio of government contracts and grants. This role is central to ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and strategic cost management across the organization.
The Project Control Manager will oversee all aspects of project accounting, including cost tracking, revenue recognition, cash flow forecasting, variance analysis, and audit readiness. Working closely with Program Teams, Contracts, Grants, and Procurement, you will ensure that every dollar spent is accurately recorded, fully compliant, and aligned with both contractual and organizational objectives.
Remote work is available for this role, with a preference for applicants residing in the National Capital Region.
Salary Range
$99,000 - $119,000. Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (CPA or CGFM preferred).
- 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience in a DoD, government contracting, or grant-funded environment.
- Expertise in Cost Accounting Standards, FAR, DFARS, and Uniform Guidance.
- Proven experience in project accounting from proposal development through contract/grant closeout.
- Strong knowledge of contract types, including FFP, T&M, and Cost Plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, and financial databases.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to consolidate large data sets into actionable management reports.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience managing accounting/finance teams.
Key Accounting & Finance Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Direct daily accounting operations for the Project Control team, ensuring accuracy in cost, revenue, and profitability reporting.
- Develop and maintain robust forecasting models for project and grant funding, including Estimates to Complete (ETC) and Estimates at Completion (EAC).
- Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations.
- Oversee revenue recognition, expense accruals, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and government cost guidelines.
- Ensure accurate cash flow management and timely funding requests.
- Review, validate, and report project actual costs incurred for labor and other direct expenses.
Compliance & Audit Readiness
- Maintain financial controls to ensure compliance with CAS, FAR, DFARS, Uniform Guidance, and other applicable regulations.
- Oversee grant and contract accounting in accordance with Uniform Guidance cost principles.
- Support and lead preparation for internal, external, and government audits.
- Incorporate contractual changes into financial systems and cost baselines.
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Manage, mentor, and develop the Project Control team with a focus on accounting accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with Program Teams, Accounting, Procurement and Leadership to ensure financial data integrity across all systems.
- Implement process improvements for efficiency in project accounting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Provide financial training to internal stakeholders on project and grant accounting requirements.
