SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Materials Supervisor trains and supervises the materials team in in the performance of their assigned tasks, which vary in nature and skills, to meet established criteria in customer service (order management), material/supply chain management, inventory accuracy and transactional discipline/performance and overall incoming and outgoing on-time delivery.
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Manages and coordinates Materials department activities, executing tasks necessary to materials planning for timely shipping of finished goods based off manufacturing planning.
- Uses customer portals to monitor delivery performance and assist with root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts, as well as help implement customer-specific best practices for satisfaction and compliance.
- Inputs systems to ensure inventory optimization and appropriate replenishment strategies at raw procurement, manufactured WIP, and shippable FG levels to meet plant financial objectives.
- Helps define and implement systems for inventory flow to ensure customer expectations and internal cross functional goals are met.
- Establishes, reviews and maintains material related parameters in ERP System at appropriate levels.
- Ensures material availability based on maintained forecasts and usage to support production requirements while preventing excess. Establish measurements and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Partners closely with the Master Scheduler and Supply Chain Assistant/Purchasing Manager to support sites operational performance for manufacturing and shipment of goods.
- Serves as key point of contact for order conflict management and resolution with Tier 1 and Tier 2 customers for Automotive, Agricultural, and misc. applications.
- Communicates any issues or delays in shipments to impacted areas internally with manufacturing and purchasing, and externally with customers and suppliers, providing corrective action plans and timings for resolution.
- Monitor Raw, WIP and finished goods inventory levels to minimize capital expenditures.
- Lead in engineering change management and reduction/elimination obsolescence costs.
- Ensure that production/capacity plans meet customer requirements and minimum inventory levels, coordinating action plans where problem areas identified regarding customer demand to stated capacity levels.
- Facilitates the implementation of continuous improvement principles and procedures, such as Kaizen, by assuming a leadership role in the continuous improvement initiative, evaluating cost-effective methods and procedures, and promoting a teach approach to the improvement of materials management and production control.
- Maintains a motivated and disciplined workforce by informing employees of company policies, procedures and operational changes that are moderately difficult where precedents are usually established and utilizing behavior modifications techniques as well as providing counseling and an initial outlet for grievance referral on complex or delicate situations.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
- Associates Degree or similar program requiring 2 years to complete.
- 3 to 5 years related experience. Additional education may be substituted for experience and vice versa.
- Good working knowledge of manufacturing procedures, operating methods and management practice as well as knowledge of inventory, supply chain, ERP, and continuous improvement initiatives.
