Position Summary
• The Interface Analyst is responsible for the development, implementation, and support of electronic data interchange (EDI) interfaces between numerous systems that support patient care, medical faculty, clinical staff and departments, administrative staff and departments, and information services. This position requires intermediate technical skills in gathering information from users, defining work problems, and development and support of EDI interfaces. The purpose of this position is to develop, implement, and maintain EDI interfaces.
• This position requires the ability to evaluate and analyze subject matter and develop specifications to create or enhance information processing functions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Successful performance utilizes and develops skills project management, and the analysis, design, and implementation of EDI interfaces. In addition, the individual must have strong technical knowledge and experience with a variety of EDI, programming, and networking technologies to meet objectives.
• Problems and tasks encountered are of a moderate to high level of difficulty and can usually be solved through research and analysis, or by referring to Senior Interface Analysts and/or supervisors. This position requires innovation and vision in problem-solving and meeting objectives in a timely manner. This individual must utilize a strong logical approach to analyze problems, pinpoint their sources, correct any errors, and redesign interfaces to prevent future problems.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or IT or related field; or, 4 years of equivalent IT or business experience required
Licenses and Certification
• Certified Cloverleaf Developer preferred
• Epic Interface Administration (Bridges) Certification required or completed within 90 days of hire. Must remain current in certification.
• Other required system application training/certifications to complete assigned work as necessary
Experience and Skills
• Technical Experience: 3 years of experience in reading and manipulating HL7 and working with interface engines required; 3 years developing in data visualization tools highly preferred
• 5 years of relevant experience in a Healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare information systems - 2 years of experience in a hospital and/or clinic setting preferred.
Role Specific Responsibilities
• Collaborate with ancillary system analysts and users, and software vendors to understand and develop business and functional interface requirements.
• Analyze and translate business requirements into functional and nonfunctional requirements.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy new interfaces to satisfy defined requirements.
• Accurately estimate required effort level and time required to complete assigned tasks and consistently meet these estimates.
• Ensure interface processes conform to all applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Identify testing scenarios and write test plans and user acceptance testing cases for quality assurance.
• Adhere to development standards that allow for the maintainability of interfaces in a manner that supports team development and assist with their creation.
• Assure compliance with that all testing, documentation, and change management requirements.
• Prepare system specification documents for new and existing applications, and documentation of interface modifications and upgrades. Review and edit documentation prepared by other interface analysts.
• Participate in the analysis and modification of the interface architecture to resolve issues and plan for future growth.
• Manage, monitor, and maintain the Epic and Cloverleaf Interface Engine system.
• Troubleshoot EDI processing errors, identify the cause, determine possible resolutions, and fix defects in existing interfaces.
• Provide 24x7x365 on-call support for interfaces, promptly responding to critical failures, and escalating issues when necessary. Provide on-going support for existing interfaces.
• Analyze performance of interfaces and take actions to correct deficiencies.
• Coordinate with both internal and external trading partners to ensure the efficient processing of transaction data.
• Serve as the lead interface analyst on medium to large scale projects as designated by department management.
• Assist with the preparation of necessary project documentation as defined by department management.
• Provide project management staff with status reports regarding assigned projects.
Compensation (Commensurate with experience):
