PURPOSE
Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting & Tax Compliance this individual will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. The ability to maintain client confidentiality, excellent organization skills, and the ability to communicate effectively are critical.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the quarterly billing process, including invoice preparation, the collection of accounts, and the management of cashflow;
- Prepare and post daily transactions and maintain the general ledgers of a variety of entities;
- Complete bank and expense report reconciliations on a monthly basis;
- Co-ordinates payment of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax instalments and remittances, including corporate tax instalments, personal tax instalments and non-resident tax payments;
- Coordinate with the President and Treasurer to manage bank deposits and vendor payments;
- Manage the cheque requisition process for a variety of entities;
- Prepare the quarter and year-end closing of the company’s books including but not limited to: income statement variance analysis, analysis of prepaid expenses, and recording of accruals for review by the Accountant and Director of Financial Reporting
- Manage and maintain petty cash float;
- Maintain the Tax database of digital and physical filing of records
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, including courier service arrangements.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Degree or Diploma in Business Administration & Accounting or in related field.
- Proficient in accounting software; QuickBooks is preferred.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; and proficiency in Outlook.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of accounting, including auditing and financial record keeping/reporting.
- Customer focused professional with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven prioritization, time management and project management skills.
- Ability to work with confidential information.
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Work independently with general guidance.
