Logistics Manager
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for monitoring the logistical functions for all Japan sites. The incumbent will be expected to work cross-functionally and with logistics service providers to gather data, evaluate data, generate reports, and make recommendations based on the data and business needs. The incumbent will be expected to identify and participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance and increase efficiency of logistics operations and work with and collaborate cross-functionally both internal to the business and external (logistics service providers). Coordinate, partner, and collaborate with Global Trade Compliance (GTC) on a frequent basis.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Ensure customs clearance to be declared correctly. Provide customs broker accurate information like HS code, declared value, incoterm, COO etc.
- Ensure the smooth execution of Export/Import control process in full conformity with the Momentive Technologies’ policy and legal regulations.
- Get necessary information from commercial team/GTC and provide review for export screening and release the block in SAP. Execute export/import in accordance with the corporate policy. Improve and refine current process for higher control of compliance.
- Provide training for the team where needed.
- Communicate with Forwarders to ensure efficient clearance, bookings, and ensure all documents are accurate and provided on time.
- Oversee import clearance and final delivery for all products.
- Ensure good record keeping process for all inbound & shipments.
- Evaluate the existing logistics processes to ensure compliance and make changes where needed to increase efficiency.
- Work with supply chain to ensure stock transfer orders are in place, monitor status to ensure goods are shipped/received on time.
- Oversee the Logistics related claims, investigation and overseeing the investigations.
- Arrange Country of Origin for FTA (RCEP, JEFTA). Request COO to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for RCEP. Support the process of applying for FTA.
- Assist Physical inventory (cycle count in future) in Oguni and Nagasaki plant
- Manage freight, audit, and pay for the Japan plants, working with the 4PL.
- Review shipping reports, ensure all required information is entered correctly for shipping and provide training where needed.
- Review logistics policies and procedures; identify gaps and work with the logistics team to create/modify policies and procedures
- Ensure effective warehouse and distribution operations by implementing department policies and procedures. Conduct audits with the warehouse and any other logistics suppliers.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, GTC and Commercial Team members, globally.
- Lead and facilitate training as required for logistics related activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Good knowledge of Supply chain, Customs clearance, import and export processes.
- Knowledge of Export Control is preferable.
- 5+ year experience of handling import/export role.
- 5+ years of SAP (and/or similar type of EPR system based) experience is preferable.
- 5+ years of service experience in SCM/logistic related role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (excel, word, PowerPoint)
- Japan native language
- Business English speaking and writing.
- Ability to multi-task, attention to details
- Good communication skill to work with multiple teams and functions.
Key Metrics Role is Accountable for:
- On time shipment/transaction.
- Order related inputs accuracy, inventory accuracy.
- Incident free clearance on import/export.
Key relationships:
- Scheduler, Commercial Team, Shipping Team, GTC, Logistics in global.
- Warehouse, Outside Vendor
Travel Requirements:
Not frequent and as-needed base.
Working Conditions:
