Finance Leader, Japan

The Finance Director, Japan role supports the Company’s global finance team and Japan General manager from a controllership, treasury, reporting and operations support. The position will work to oversee the timely and accurate month-end close process, identify and drive process improvements, implement and oversee financial internal controls locally in line with the Company’s global control environment while enhancing internal controls over financial reporting to increase efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Manage local controllership team for several business units.
Oversight of local controllership team.
Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of the accounting records for the global business, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Support external annual US GAAP Audit and quarterly Review including process walkthroughs and populations/sample selection.
Oversee the annual local J-GAAP audit and tax filing.
Drive development and documentation of sustainable and repeatable financial processes.
Ensure adherence to the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting.
Support Global Controller on various special projects and ad-hoc initiatives.
Development of finance team members.

Key Metrics Responsible For:

Monthly, Quarterly, Annual period closings
Accurate and timely financial reporting
Adherence to Company’s internal control

Required Qualifications:

BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance
10+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Experience working in an ERP system
Working knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational and project management skills
Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
Willingness to take initiative, own and follow through on projects to completion
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment
MS Excel at an intermediate level

Preferred Qualifications:

Manufacturing accounting experience
Experience working in/with a multinational corporation
SAP Experience
