Job Description:

The purpose of this research project—called Raising Texas Voices—is to study how different generations of Texans with developmental disabilities and their families (a) view disability and their experiences, (b) engage in advocacy, and (c) prefer to learn how to advocate effectively. Our findings will inform statewide advocacy strategies, training formats, and outreach efforts in order to improve overall engagement across the diverse disability community in Texas. We have positions available for Baylor students interested in helping contribute to our recruitment, data collection, data analysis, and dissemination activities. This project is based in the Baylor Center for Developmental Disabilities. Between 10-15 hours per week.


Responsibilities: 
This position may include some or all of the following activities: 
•    Conducting literature reviews 
•    Conducting or assisting with interviews of individuals with disabilities and/or families
•    Entering, cleaning, and preparing data 
•    Analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative data under the guidance of researchers
•    Managing and organizing our data
•    Identifying relevant organizations and networks for recruitment
•    Contacting organizations by phone and email to recruit partners and participants
•    Developing and formatting resources related to our findings
•    Attending regular project meetings

Qualifications:
•    Availability to complete hours in-person at the Center during business hours
•    Ability to work both independently and collaboratively 
•    Commitment to detail and intentionality in work
•    Strong written communication skills 
•    Strong interpersonal skills 
•    Prior experience in data collection, analysis, and/or literature reviews is preferred
•    Fluency in Spanish is preferred for one position, but not required
