Pay: $68,000-$72,000; Non-exempt
Ryan Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Technician with strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The Sr. Network Technician is responsible for performing physical and logical network modifications, troubleshooting network issues, and providing installation, configuration, and maintenance support for network infrastructure. Off-hours and weekend work may be required for maintenance windows and critical break/fix activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform Move/Add/Change (MAC) activities, including moving or adding network connections in closets and terminating port connections.
- Configure switches to accommodate port activation.
- Respond to ITSM/ServiceNow tickets, including problem identification, troubleshooting, escalation, and closure within SLAs.
- Install and configure network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, network tools/testing devices) in network closets and data center cabinets.
- Logically configure network switches and testing devices.
- Patch circuits into switches and verify connectivity.
- Perform network closet clean-up, switch port optimization, and site surveys as needed.
- Operate Layer 1–3 network test equipment for diagnostics and validation.
- Monitor network alerts from management tools and take appropriate corrective action.
- Manage ITSM/ServiceNow ticket queue; respond to, update, and close incident tickets (break/fix and service requests).
- Support break/fix efforts to restore service, meeting network SLA and performance targets.
- Provide effective customer communication; handle initial Tier 1 calls from end users or the help desk.
- Maintain network asset inventory tools to ensure data integrity.
- Manage network documentation, including drawings, diagrams, and records.
- Participate in after-hours change control and maintenance windows when required.
- Assist network personnel in keeping storage areas organized and equipment ready for deployment.
- Coordinate and track RMA activities for defective equipment.
- Set up and test network systems and hardware components prior to deployment.
- Diagnose failed equipment using established procedures to determine if it can be repaired in-house or requires vendor return.
- Perform standard in-house repairs and functional testing on eligible components.
- Test and verify vendor-repaired equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable IT security policies and regulations.
- Update and maintain AutoCAD and Visio network documentation.
Requirements
- Active Secret Clearance Required
- 5+ years as a Network Technician
- Certifications: CCNA or CCENT preferred (not required)
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and hardware
- Experience with ITSM/ServiceNow ticketing systems
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Visio for network documentation
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when necessary
