Firmwide data office (FDO)
Managing the accuracy & timeliness of our data enables our businesses, helps us to make informed decisions and protects us from risk. Firmwide data office (FDO) is a group within the Technology Division that focuses on data as a key priority of Morgan Stanley's overall Strategy. FDO sets standards and develop tooling for ownership, distribution and consumption of data and data accessibility. The frameworks developed by the team address data architecture and data quality issues for new and existing initiatives at the firm by collaborating heavily with various business units and technology functions in the firm.
Position Description:
The ideal candidate has experience working as a Data Analyst with experience working on complex, cross functional, global projects with more than 2-4 years' experience in the banking industry.
We are looking for a structured, highly organized individual with the ability to self-manage, work with a level of ambiguity and has a pro-active approach. The role requires the need to be able to work in a complex environment as part of a large scale global, fast paced service organization.
This role resides within the System Dictionary Cataloguing Service (SDCS) team, which is to aid the accurate population of System Dictonary Data, enabling a single view of all sensitive data and cloud data stored in the Firm. It is a vital role that requires a mix of business analysis and stakeholder management skills, as the candidate will be working across global teams to deliver required objectives, deliverables and outcomes to time and quality while expertly managing stakeholders expectations.
The candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to autonomously work within FDO using an Agile approach from inception to completion as part of a wider service organization. Responsibilities:
- Work with system owners, data officers and other partners to provide guidance to system dictionary related queries, including cataloguing, revalidation and automated code adoption.
- Understand the basic concept of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and able to interpret its importance to customers firmwide.
- Understand the basic concept of Cloud Governance and able to interpret its importance to customers firmwide.
- Act as a gatekeeper for PII and Cloud related cataloguing requests by reviewing cataloguing content with system owners/business owners.
- Support UAT Testing with various FDO products to drive automation efficiency.
- Analyze and escalate cataloguing risks and/or issues impacting key services.
- Ensure successful execution of request in a timely manner inline with the appropriate control framework.
- Support internal reporting including creation, collation, publishing of regional and functional dashboards
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills Required:
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for work.
- Around 2-4 years of Financial Services industry experience with a solid understanding of core banking products.
- Great communication and influencing skills, team player, self-starter, demonstrated strong work ethic.
- Around 2-4 years related business analysis with proven stakeholder management examples.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to act as a bridge between several business areas and system owners.
- Ability to work in a team environment, build and maintain a network of contacts, and coordinate number of stakeholders across the business and technology.
- Understanding of Project Management concepts, SDLC methodologies and Operating models (Agile)
- Experienced in JIRA and Microsoft Office tools to create a productive, high quality execution environment.
- Undergraduate degree required
- Decent understanding of Data Governance processes.
