LOCATION: This position requires onsite presence 5 days a week at our project site in Hawthorne Army Depot in Hawthorne, Nevada.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Environmental Site Lead works alongside Senior Scientists, Project Managers, Technical Experts, and field personnel on a wide variety of environmental investigation, remediation, and compliance projects including environmental sampling and reporting, site characterization, data management, data quality review, and reporting for a variety of clients. Responsibilities include providing technical support for environmental investigation and restoration projects, fieldwork, investigation results reporting, site characterization, site restoration, feasibility studies, subcontractor oversight, work plans, monitoring and tracking project metrics, overseeing deliverable schedules, providing technical reviews, applying quality assurance and quality control checks, and maintaining and updating environmental databases. Performs onsite oversight of personnel and client coordination for field events including sampling and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of treatment systems.
Job Functions:
- Supports projects from inception to completion, including data collection and management, project documentation, field sampling, site assessment activities, and technical report writing.
- Lead day-to-day site operations to ensure project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate and oversee all on-site work activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and coordinate the work of site personnel and subcontractors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for site staff, resolving issues and providing guidance.
- Act as the on-site representative for the company, maintaining regular communication with clients, vendors, etc.
- Conducts environmental field sampling, and collects different media including, but not limited to, groundwater, soil, and surface water.
- Performs O&M of groundwater remediation systems.
- Prepares work planning documents and associated deliverables.
- Interprets sample data and prepares environmental technical data summary reports.
- Oversees subsurface field geologic exploration tasks including drilling, and develops technical fact sheets, briefings, and programmatic status reports.
- Reviews geologic samples and geologic unit identification, assigns laboratory testing, and prepares reports.
- Supervises the installation of soil borings and monitoring wells.
- Leads field sampling teams to complete long-term monitoring activities, including groundwater sampling and site inspections.
- Prepares after-action reports, remedial action completion reports, groundwater monitoring reports, site investigation reports, and other data deliverables.
- Performs data and documentation quality assurance/quality control reviews, prepares work plans, and produces effective technical reports.
- Review reports for assessing functional and technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory guidance.
- Tracks project schedules to meet suspense dates for deliverables.
- Prioritizes and executes activities and workflow to meet established program goals and objectives.
- Manipulates and analyzes data in multiple sources and formats.
- Oversees planning and scheduling activities to meet mission requirements.
- Operates equipment and performs services in a safe manner.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 12-15 years of previous related environmental or Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) field experience
- DoD work experience preferred
- Understanding and evaluating compliance with Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) , Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and DoD Environmental Policies and Procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, physical sciences, engineering, or related field is a plus
- Database manipulation and GIS skills are a plus
- Demonstrates reliability, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic, exhibits time management skills, is oriented, and performs work accurately in a work in a collaborative environment.
- Proficient in MS Project or other scheduling software
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
