Job Description

As Mechanical Technician on the Engineering team, you will make a positive impact by:
- Inspect incoming parts for dimensional compliance and conduct form-fit-function and other mechanical tests on components and assemblies.
- Prepare components for evaluation by cutting, finishing, and cleaning.
- Compile, document, and report inspection and test results clearly and accurately.
- Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing teams to resolve non-conformances, improve part quality, and implement continuous improvement.
- Develop and document test procedures and inspection processes.
- Design and build fixtures to enable repeatable tests and dimensional inspections.
- Assist in prototype assembly and mechanical builds for demos and testing.
- Operate and maintain 3D printers for rapid prototyping and part fabrication.
- Support the Mechanical Engineering team with hands-on mechanical tasks.
- Travel to domestic/international manufacturing facilities: up to 40%
Qualifications
Qualifications we're looking for.
- Experience:
- 2+ years in a mechanical inspection or technician role, preferably in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
- Experience with plastic (extrusion and injection-molding) processes and materials is ideal.
- Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Skilled in using precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators).
- Basic proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Catia) for viewing and manipulating part and assembly files.
- Basic knowledge of electronic devices and handling enclosures with circuit boards and batteries.
- Hands-on mechanical skills for cutting, modifying, and assembling components.
- Experience with using hand and shop tools (drill press, band saw, miter saw, table saw, etc.).
- Experience with 3D printing technologies (FDM preferred), including setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Abilities:
- High attention to detail and accuracy in inspection and reporting.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective collaboration with cross-functional international teams.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 20 pounds.
- Education:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Mechanical Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
