He aha te tūranga - About the role: 

Reporting to the Fundraising Manager North, you will provide an exemplary donor journey to the donors, ensuring their experience with Hato Hone St John reflects our commitment to excellence. You will play a key role in building and enriching ongoing relationships with donors, supporting the development of a national High Value Donor Relationship Plan to achieve annual revenue targets. Working closely with the wider fundraising team, and other teams including fleet, finance and ambulance operations – you will  ensure donors receive timely and meaningful updates on the impact of their contributions. Recognising that every donor journey is unique, you will align donor requests and priorities with the funding needs of Hato Hone St John, creating meaningful, long-term partnerships that support our life-saving work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the development of a national High Value Donor Relationship Plan
  • Nurture and inspire donors through effective relationship management and other donor stewardship activities
  • Support the implementation of the strategy and annual plan by contributing to the communications plan, coordinating supporter events and dedication ceremonies, and contributing constructively to  broader fundraising planning. Consistently maintain excellent donor stewardship, always maintaining a donor-first mindset
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth delivery of information  and timely donor updates
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all reporting, and database management tasks always maintaining up-to-date donor records

Qualifications

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Excellent communication and active listening skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated accountability in handling donor enquiries and resolving issues efficiently, with a strong focus on customer relationship management to foster donor satisfaction and secure long-term support
  • A high level of customer focus and professionalism, with empathy, the ability to build trust and rapport, and maintain positive relationships
  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task effectively, with flexibility to shift priorities to meet business needs
  • Strong time management and organisation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including the ability to generate reports and impactful presentations
  • Strong knowledge of databases and hands-on experience with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce)
  • Experience in coordinating and supporting the delivery of charitable fundraising events
  • Proven experience in developing high value donor relationships (desirable)
