The department: CRO/WB/Transaction Approval & Advice (TA&A)
Within ING Wholesale Banking, TA&A is responsible for the analysis, advice and decision making of transactions for our clients. This is done by risk managers (SCOs and Credit Officers) who have a thorough understanding of credit structuring, credit risk, credit policies, businesses & markets, and ESG related risks. In addition to the client-by-client approval process, risk managers are responsible for portfolio monitoring and advising senior management on strategic directions in terms of risk appetite and portfolio steering.
TA&A Amsterdam employs ~55 persons and is organized in 5 teams;
Energy, Transportation & Logistics; Real Estate, Infra & Construction; Commodities, Food and Agri; TMT&H, Acquisition Finance, Securitization, BMG, Corporate Investments WCS; Environmental & Social Responsibility
The role
The team that is covering a.o. TMT&H and AF, is looking for new colleague. As Credit Officer you work with Senior Credit Officers (SCO) on new transactions. These start with early stage deal discussions, (co)writing a risk advise, and end with documentation sign-off. Simultaneously you continuously manage the portfolio’s for which you’re responsible. From ratings to annual reviews, and from watch listing, to ad-hoc credit assessments (energy crisis, geopolitical conflicts, tariffs implications).
The deal flow and pace is high, so you will get to see much and it allows you to learn all aspects of credit risk management and WB’s risk appetite. If you are ready, you’ve proven to master the basics, and the ability to manage various tasks simultaneously, more responsibility can come your way.
Next to the core of your job, you will get the chance to be involved in projects covering sector analysis, reporting, climate change and other initiatives that enhance the credit risk management function of ING.
The Team
Our team is dynamic and we work closely with all our (EMEA) Front Office colleagues. The timelines of requests are usually demanding hence flexibility and a ‘can do ‘mentality is important. In AF and TMT&H we regularly work together with LDG and DCM teams. Our environment is dynamic and therefore the team spirit important, so to you it is very natural to support fellow TA&A colleagues who need a hand.
The team consists of 15 FTE. Your position will be based in the Amsterdam and you will report to the team lead. You will be working closely with and under responsibility of the respective SCOs and act as point of contact for FO teams on the respective portfolios.
Job description – 4 core elements:
- You will support SCOs on new transactions and act as 2nd point of contact for FO teams with whom we expect that you will maintain a strong relationship.
- You will manage the portfolio and handle risk ratings, annual reviews, and watch-listed files. Obviously you will get support where needed.
- You will ensure the quality and (policy) consistency of credit applications and anything else submitted in our systems.
- You are strongly encouraged to support department wide projects to make our Risk role more effective and efficient.
Who we are looking for?
- Someone who easily understands different business models, market dynamics, financial analysis, and credit structuring.
- You are curious and willing to ask questions to understand the most material risks.
- An independent thinker, not afraid to provide a different point of view and open to the exchange of ideas.
- You are able and willing to express yourself, in writing and verbally, concise and clear, while still staying friendly.
- You’re a self-starter, hands on, pro-active, and you cope well with pressure.
- It would be helpful if you’re already aware of ING’s credit risk processes and policies
- And it would also be helpful if you have experience in WB or risk management
What do we offer ?
We will offer you a job where you will see much and accelerate your learning curve. You will be part of a pleasant and dynamic team, that interacts with dozens of (international) FO colleagues. The set-up in the team allows for shifting/increasing responsibilities if you’re ready. Aso important to note is that TA&A is a relatively small organisation, with decision makers sitting next to you. Therefore you will get a strong sense of ING’s risk appetite across many Sector and Product verticals.
The role is 40-hours per week and in job grade 10/11
