Job Description: Payroll Specialist
Position Summary: We are seeking a detail oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to manage and execute bi-weekly payroll operations, employee data maintenance, and compliance reporting. This role will serve as a key liaison between Workday and CMiC systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing, onboarding, terminations, and regulatory filings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll systems, tax regulations, and employee benefits administration.
Key Responsibilities
Bi-Weekly Payroll Operations
· Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule.
· Manage bi-weekly onboarding and terminations, ensuring proper documentation and system updates.
· Pull and reconcile bi-weekly employee changes from Workday to CMiC.
· Maintain up-to-date employee records between CMiC and Workday.
Deductions & Payments
· Administer bi-weekly child support and garnishment deductions.
· Handle referral bonus processing in accordance with company policy.
Timekeeping & Support
· Respond to E-time assistance requests and troubleshoot time entry issues.
Tax & Compliance Reporting
· Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly state, local, and unemployment tax reports.
· Execute weekly state tax payments and maintain accurate records.
· Manage unemployment claims and provide timely responses to state agencies.
Benefits & Retirement Updates
· Update and maintain employee retirement contributions and records with T. Rowe Price.
Qualifications
· 3+ years of experience in payroll processing or related HR/Finance roles.
· CPP/FPC certification favorable but not required
· Proficiency in payroll systems, preferably CMiC and Workday.
· Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
· Experience with unemployment claims and garnishment processing.
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment & Schedule
· Full-time position with a standard bi-weekly payroll cycle.
· Remote flexibility depending on company policy, once fully trained on assigned tasks.
