ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Office of Communications & Public Engagement Student Worker will perform all tasks assigned by the office’s full-time staff. Adhere to office style guides and deadlines. Conduct themselves professionally at campus events and during interviews with students, faculty, staff, and members of Liberty administration. Work effectively as a team member in the Office of Communications & Public Engagement, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
The Office of Communications & Public Engagement Student Worker-Sports Writer will perform all tasks assigned by the office’s full-time staff. Attend home games as assigned for various sports teams and call coaches and staff for results from away games. Responsible for writing follow-up articles for the website under deadline. Adhere to office style guides. Conduct themselves professionally at sporting events and during interviews with Club Sports athletes, coaches, and staff members. Work effectively as a team member in the Office of Communications & Public Engagement, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Liberty University student
- Ability to work up to 18 hours per week
- Availability to work a variety of different shifts (evenings and weekends)
Preferred Qualifications
- Writing experience
- Knowledge of AP style

Communication and Comprehension
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
- Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, prospective students and families, and members of Liberty administration.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Problem Solving
- Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
- Frequently required to sit or stand in one location for extended periods to perform tasks assigned to varying positions.
- Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move around the facility.
- Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office and any of Liberty’s campus venues—indoor and outdoor. Occasional off-campus assignments.
