Job Purpose: The Incharge Raw Material and Fuel Testing (QC) oversees the quality testing of raw materials and fuels, ensuring compliance with standards using techniques like X-ray diffraction (XRD) and calorimetric analysis. This role includes managing testing procedures, ensuring adherence to BIS and environmental regulations, optimizing raw material and fuel inputs, maintaining lab equipment, and managing data and reporting. The position also involves collaborating with suppliers and upholding ethical standards in all testing activities.

Raw Material Quality Testing:

Oversee the testing of raw materials such as limestone, clay, and gypsum using techniques like X-ray diffraction (XRD) and gravimetric analysis to determine mineral content.

Ensure compliance with quality standards by analyzing key parameters such as CaCO₃ content and particle size distribution.

Fuel Quality Testing:

Conduct analysis of fuels using calorimetric analysis to measure calorific value, and elemental analysis for sulfur, ash, and moisture content.

Utilize equipment such as bomb calorimeters and moisture analyzers to ensure fuel quality and performance.

Compliance with BIS and Environmental Standards:

Ensure testing procedures comply with BIS norms and environmental regulations, focusing on minimizing emissions and ensuring sustainable fuel use.

Monitor compliance with regulations related to fuel quality and emissions, implementing necessary adjustments to maintain standards.

Process Control and Optimization:

Collaborate with production teams to optimize raw material and fuel inputs based on test results, using data to adjust kiln parameters and improve process efficiency.

Lead initiatives to enhance the quality and performance of raw materials and fuels, including exploring alternative sources and materials.

Lab Equipment Maintenance and Calibration:

Manage the calibration and maintenance of testing equipment, including spectrometers, calorimeters, and moisture analyzers, ensuring accurate and reliable results.

Develop maintenance schedules and track equipment performance to prevent downtime and ensure continuous testing capability.

Data Management and Reporting:

Record and manage test data using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), ensuring accuracy and traceability of results.

Prepare detailed reports on raw material and fuel quality, providing insights and recommendations for process improvements and regulatory compliance.

Supplier and Vendor Collaboration:

Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure the consistent quality of raw materials and fuels, conducting quality audits and performance evaluations.

Evaluate and approve new suppliers and alternative materials, ensuring they meet the company's quality and regulatory requirements.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in the lab, including proper handling of samples and safety procedures.

Conduct safety audits and risk assessments related to raw material and fuel testing, implementing corrective actions as needed.

Ethics and Quality Assurance:

Uphold ethical standards in testing activities, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and integrity in all results and reports.

Implement internal controls to prevent unethical practices and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Organizational Skills:

Prioritize tasks effectively to ensure timely completion of departmental objectives and projects.

Implement best practices in workflow management to reduce bottlenecks and improve output quality.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to changing priorities and demands with agility.

Education Qualification:

BSc and MSc in Chemistry. Certified Internal Quality Auditor (ISO9001 - 2015) with knowledge of EN standards.

Work Experience:

8+ years of experience in testing raw materials and fuels within the cement industry, with expertise in techniques such as XRD and calorimetric analysis.

Industry Knowledge:

Deep knowledge of raw material and fuel quality testing methods, including compliance with environmental regulations and process optimization.
