Purpose of Position:

The main purpose of this position is to ensure compliance for our entities across Europe and Asia with regard to tax filings/notifications and tax accounting. While your main focus will be on direct tax compliance, you will also be exposed to transfer pricing and accounting-related topics. Where needed, we work closely with external advisors/consultancy firms to support you in this role.

Key Accountabilities:

Carry out:

  1. Prepare the monthly/quarterly income tax calculation of current and deferred taxes (IFRS and Local GAAP), reconciliation and corporate reporting.
  2. Coordinate, prepare/support tax filings with relevant stakeholders (external and internal) to ensure timely and accurate tax filings.
  3. Review and monitor changes in local/regional tax legislation, rulings, regulations an litigation;
  4. Implementation/maintenance of full tax regime compliance, in accordance with the regulations for Braskem entities/reporting business area’s in E/A
  5. Review current processes for improvement, efficiency and limit risks;
  6. Understand and clarify as necessary with accounting/finance teams regarding possible implications of local tax rules and document best practices and guidelines;
  7. Support of tax audits, either for internal or external stakeholders;
  8. Support the tax manager with implementation of any regional or global projects as required;
  9. Ensure a positive and constructive environment within the team and with internal and external interfaces.

    Interfaces:
  • Tax management team (NL) / Corporate tax team (Brazil)
  • External consultancy firms 
  • Local Tax authorities 
  • Other Internal Finance departments (Accounting/AP/AR etc.)
  • Other Internal stakeholders (Chartering team/supply chain team / Procurement etc.)

Technical / Management Knowledge 

  • Bachelor or Master’s in (International) Tax law & Economics or equivalent education (for example Accounting) with several years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in international tax or accounting (more is a plus)
  • Knowledge and solid experience with tax compliance/reporting and tax accounting (Pillar II knowledge is a plus)
  • Ability to work independently after a certain period
  • Excellent English communications skills (fluent Dutch/German/Portuguese is a plus)
  • Demonstrate ability to well understand priorities, effectively multitask and meet critical deadlines
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and attention to details. 
  • Sound system experience in SAP FI or another ERP system is a plus
  • Very good MS Office skills, especially Excel
