The Post

We are seeking an experienced officer to manage the efficient delivery of administrative support to services within the Children and Young People and Community Development department, identifying and implementing improvements as required to achieve this.

This role involves but is not limited to:

  • The Line management of Business Support Officers, with a strong emphasis on excellent performance and efficiency. 
  • Providing efficient and professional day to day administration support to the allocated service(s) within Children and Young People and Community Development department.
  • Ensuring effective financial administration within Business Support functions, ensuring invoices and payments are processed and financial allowances are paid in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
  • Support effective working relationships and act as an ambassador and advocate with external organisations.
  • Ensuring services across the department have access to high quality business support, managing workloads for Business Support Officers as appropriate to meet demands through the creation and maintenance of efficient administration.

The Person

The successful candidate will work collaboratively to very tight deadlines and ensure that the administrative support provided meets the needs of the service. The individual will have a sound understanding of effective management practices, particularly as they relate to performance management and the development of service provision and staff. The successful candidate should be an individual of integrity and good character; has the appropriate experience, qualification, and skills for the work. A knowledge of the safeguarding of children is desirable.
