You take pride in your work and will drive toward a culture of zero incidents and an optimum environmental footprint. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programs will be well implemented, unsafe conditions in current operations will be corrected, and new equipment will be designed for safe operations, all meeting the relevant standards in R&D and local regulations. That means you will ensure that facilities provided are well maintained, regulations/procedures are in place and implemented, risk/hazard assessments are conducted, accidents both caused by both unsafe acts and unsafe conditions are reduced, energy and waste are driven down, and engineering expertise is applied to optimise designs. 

How you will contribute

You will: 

Support the Health, Safety & Environment cultural transformation in the R&D site 

  • Contribute to the implementation of HSE standards and programs for the R&D site, including Process Safety Management  

  • Engage and collaborate with teams on site to develop an interdependent safety culture 

  • Contribute to the presentation of safety updates in multi-level meetings, townhalls and safety campaigns 

  • Support R&D in achieving zero accidents and incidents 

  • Support teams in identifying and developing opportunities to reduce environmental impact e.g. carbon footprint 

  • Collaborate with the global HSE community, sharing knowledge and best practices 

  • Maintain appropriate PPE availability for staff 

Support management of change for the R&D labs, pilot plant and offices on site 

  • Lead the teams on site to assess risks for Pilot Plant equipmentand operations 

  • Support process safety / engineering safety assessments for new equipment; influencing in the design stage and correcting in the implementation state 

  • Support the safety re-assessment process for existing equipment and lead teams to execute re-assessments 

  • Review and improve safe systems of work such as Work Instructions / Standard Operating Procedures and Lock Out Tag Out procedures, and maintain document control 

  • Contribute to the identification and tracking of corrective actions related to equipment design and operation 

  • Lead inductions for new-comers to site 

  • Support safety trainings and refreshers 

  • Review training records 

 

· Support incident management for the R&D site 

  • Maintain an up-to-date incident reporting system 

  • Support investigations in conjunction with the HSE Lead, HSE Pillar team and safety committee 

  • Drive the completion of corrective actions to eliminate root causes/reoccurrence 

  • Share findings with the wider community 

What you will bring

  • NEBOSH qualification(s) 

  • Previous engineering experience and/or engineering background preferred 

  • Experience and passion for Health, Safety & Environment programs 

  • Technical curiosity, continuous learning, and a drive to ensure technical rigor 

  • Excellence working in teams, and working independently with appropriate guidance 

  • Proactive identification of problems, and creation and implementation of solutions 

  • Experience in project management, prioritisation and managing activities 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
