Description
Fordham Law School invites applications for an adjunct instructor position to teach a course in International Commercial Arbitration Law and the CISG. The Law School is particularly interested in courses that combine both theory and current legal practice.
Responsibilities:
Teach an engaging course at the Law School exploring legal issues in International Commercial Arbitration and the CISG,(the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods), including developing arbitration skills for International Arbitration competitions. Develop practice-oriented arbitration documents and teach topics including:

Arbitration as a product of consent and a private method of dispute resolution

Dispute resolution process and impact of the Agreement to Arbitrate

Arbitration vs Litigation
-
NY Convention / UNCITRAL Model Law

The Civil Law approach vs. the Common Law (US) approach

The doctrine of separability
-
Fundamentals of International Commercial Arbitration and the CISG
-
The Arbitration Clause and Kompetenz-Kompetenz

Impact of the arbitration rules selected in the Agreement to Arbitrate

Impact of the Lex Arbitri
The course prepares students for competing in the International Vis arbitration competition in Hong Kong and Vienna. In addition to covering the basics of international arbitration, the course covers the CISG.
Develop a thirteen-week syllabus that covers essential topics within International Arbitration and the CISG, fostering a mastery as an advocate in arbitration.
Foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment conducive to critical thinking, discussion, and debate.
Shape a set of learning objectives and skills that students will master by the end of the course.
Evaluate and grade student course performance and provide constructive feedback to foster students’ understanding of core concepts.
Qualifications

Juris Doctor degree

Experience in Arbitration Law and International Sales.

Prior teaching experience (preferred).
The salary range for this job is $2,000-$15,000 per semester, dependent on the number of credits offered, experience, and practice area.
