Description

The Microbial Sciences Institute (MSI) at Yale University in partnership with the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry (MB&B), seeks applicants for an Associate/Full Professor, Single Molecule Microbiology. The position includes a full (primary) appointment in MB&B within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, in addition to colleagues and research space in the MSI, and has a target start date of July 2025. 

The MSI (http://microbialsciences.yale.edu) is a central hub where research teams from multiple departments contribute broad perspectives, approaches, and expertise in microbiology. Current research areas include biology of microbial communities, host-microbe interaction, and microbial structural biology.

MB&B (http://mbb.yale.eduis dedicated to understanding the mechanisms of life at the molecular level. The Department broadly defines biochemistry and biophysics to mean the molecules and mechanisms of life. Current research areas include protein translation and homeostasis, RNA biology, genomics and DNA repair, cytoskeleton and membrane biology, and molecular neuroscience. The Department employs a range of approaches, including structural (X-ray and cryoEM), genetic, cell biological and computational.

Selected candidates will be expected to teach biophysics, including cell-based concepts, at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, and communication skills conducive to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels are necessary.
