Tagline: The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is currently seeking a non-tenure track Research Instructor in the Department of Medicine

Key Responsibilities:
· Perform laboratory experiments and produce competent and reproducible results to a high technical standard
· Devise research methods
· Analyze data, and interpret and present results with minimal faculty supervision
· Design experiments and implement and standardize new processes and procedures based on expert knowledge of literature and subject matter
· Maintain detailed documentation and assist in writing formal scientific reports suitable for publication
· Prepare and/or maintain samples and biospecimens
· Manage laboratory personnel
· Prepare materials suitable for institutional review of formal protocols and operating procedures with minimal faculty supervision
Academic Opportunities:
· Teaching and working with medical students, graduate students, residents, gastroenterology fellows and undergraduate students.
· Candidate is required to obtain a faculty appointment at Vanderbilt School of Medicine as part of the job.

Qualifications
General Qualifications:
· Ph.D., preferably in Cell Biology and/or Immunology or related fields
· Three or more years of experience as a post-doctoral fellow
· Strong publication record
· Experience teaching at the graduate level
· Self-motivated, independent, and with exceptional team interaction skills
· Ability to read and synthesize the literature. Identify gaps in knowledge, craft hypotheses, and independently develop experimental plans
· Skilled in troubleshooting and optimizing experimental approaches
Research Experience/Qualifications:
- Excellent mentoring and management skills
- Clinical research background
- Have strengths in oral and written communication. Ideally, grant writing experience.
- Extensive mouse modeling experience
- Ideally, experience with culturing mouse and human organoids
- Strong background in molecular biology, tissue culture, and biochemistry methodologies and techniques
