The Opportunity

The College of Natural Sciences and Psychology Department at Zayed University invites applications for one full-time position of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to the goal of developing Psychology undergraduate students to be well equipped with transferrable skills to work in a variety of workplace settings. The appointed faculty should be competent in offering high-quality teaching and research in diverse areas of psychology and developing innovative courses and programs. Evidence of teaching excellence and working experience within the field of Psychology is important. Preference will be given to those who are able to help develop programs, teach at undergraduate and graduate levels. The department also offers an MSc in Counselling Psychology and the appointed faculty would be expected to teach evening classes to Masters level students in the field of counselling psychology so should therefore have expertise in this area.

Job Description

• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Psychology programs. The faculty will be responsible for teaching 24 credit hour per year. Teaching will include courses applied psychology such as psychological interventions, counselling, assessment and more.
• Participation in departmental service-related activities such as serving on committees and community outreach.
• Collaboration with other faculty members to ensure successful delivery of the undergraduate PSY program, and develop course content for the Master’s program in Counselling Psychology.
• Academic advising for undergraduate students in the PSY Program. 
• Appropriate participation in conferences, professional associations, and research. 
• Performance of other duties as assigned by the Dean and/or the Department Chair.

Qualifications

·       A Ph.D. in Psychology or a very closely related discipline such as Counselling, that is or can be recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education.

·       Well-defined and relevant research agenda and/or professional consulting experience.

·       Relevant teaching experience as well as active research/professional interests.

·       A student-centered and innovative approach to teaching.

·       A strong record of innovative research in Psychology, with a record of publications in leading international scientific journals in the area of specialization.

·       Research/work experience in non-academic settings such as ministries, policy making, health promotion settings, health organizations, and/or research institutes.
