Team purpose

The Financial Planning & Performance team is responsible for providing quality strategic insight and effective finance partnering to key stakeholders across the Save the Children International Global Teams and Members to drive quality financial and business outcomes.

Role purpose
This role is responsible for leading the Finance Business Partnering team and providing strategic financial advisory and professional support to Global Teams. It is responsible for leading on the budgeting / forecasting processes for Global Teams, and delivering high quality financial management information to enable effective financial decision making, efficient use of resources and quality outcomes for children.
 

Principal Accountabilities

•    Lead the finance business partnering to Global Teams, except departments under the Chief Operating Officer (COO), and provide strategic financial leadership to drive quality financial and business outcomes.
•    Accountable for team high quality and on time delivery, leading a team of Finance business partners to achieve high performance through a combination of leading by example, team empowerment, coaching and structured training and development.
•    Lead the planning and delivery of budgeting, forecasting and actuals reporting processes (including year-end close process) for Global Teams, and consolidation of financials for all above country costs.
•    Work closely with the Director of Financial Planning & Performance on key initiatives, including coordinating the SCI/SCA budget and forecast process and driving strong financial performance, including revenue growth
•    Ensure a strong business partnering team is in place that advises senior leaders across Global Teams, challenges them on performance and co-creates solutions to address risks and challenges
•    Develop and maintain long term financial and funding plans across Transformation, IT and other investment portfolios, and provide quality strategic financial advisory to achieve desired benefits
•    Lead continuous improvement across finance planning and reporting processes as required, developing process, guidance and tool improvements that add value
•    Contribute to design and continuous improvement of budgeting and reporting elements of  Financial Management System (FMS)
•    Support the Director of Financial Planning & Performance with the preparation of reports and analysis for SLT, Management Committee and Governance Committees
•    Be the Coding model (CAPP) Data Owner for attributes relevant to Global Teams financial reporting

 

Experience and Skills
 

Essential

1.    Significant finance and business partnering experience, with experience in a leadership role in a Chartered Accounting, Commercial or NGO environment
2.    Proven experience of planning and leading budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes across complex organisations
3.    Proven experience partnering with business teams to develop business cases for investments, driving improved performance and cost efficiencies
4.    Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams in line with Save the Children values
5.    Excellent stakeholder management and strategic influencing skills 
6.    Ability to present complex financial information in a clear and compelling manner
7.    Proven experience driving improvements to processes and tools to ensure that they are fit for purpose and adding value in a changing environment
8.    Maintains a calm disposition and positive outlook particularly when working under pressure
9.    Understanding of key operational and strategic issues relating to Technology Services and/or Business Transformation
10.    Ability to liaise remotely with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility, tact and diplomacy

Desirable

•    Experienced in a multi-currency multi-sector finance environment
 

Education and Qualifications 

 

•    ACA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent
