JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client based care model and in accordance with established standards and the vision and values of the organization, including Indigenous Cultural Safety, cultural humility and anti-racism principles, the Mechanic/Power Engineer works as a member of the site’s maintenance team and performs skilled work at the journeyman level in the maintenance, overhaul and repair of related equipment, systems and machinery in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. In addition, the position is responsible for operating, repairing and carrying out preventative maintenance on the boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power and other related equipment of the facility in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Performs other general and preventative maintenance and repair duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Mechanic recognized by the Province of B.C. Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of B.C. Two (2) years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to deal with others effectively.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
