JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a patient/client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, a Practice Leader works in a team-based environment and is charged with overseeing practice in the designated area. Duties include supporting clinicians with their practice and participating in planning and coordinating practice standards, goals and objectives in conjunction with designated management and other team members and collaborating on various staffing and quality control issues. Works in partnership with clinical operations leadership, Regional Clinical Education, and Quality and Safety and other partners. Provides leadership, direction and guidance on areas related to research, practice updates/changes and education, as well as working in collaboration with operations on Social Work service design or redesign. Works in partnership with professional associations, regulatory bodies and other external partners to ensure Social Work practice within the designated geographic and/or program areas of the health authority is within applicable legislation and regulations. Works under the direction of the Allied Health Practice Director and in collaboration with the SW practice leadership team to enact priorities and ensure organizational practice guidelines and education mediums and modules support standardized, evidence-based practices across the health authority. Acts as the designated responder coordinator for issues relating to the Adult Guardianship Act and in collaboration with the VCH ReACT team. QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Master of Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work plus seven (7) years' recent, related experience, including three (3) years' previous supervisory experience in Social Work or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesDemonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care.Demonstrated knowledge of Social Work theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.Demonstrated knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.Demonstrated knowledge of the BC College of Social Workers code of ethics, scope of practice and standards of practice for clinical practitioners.Comprehensive knowledge of provincial and federal legislation pertaining to SW practice.Comprehensive knowledge of the Adult Guardianship Act.Comprehensive knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based careDemonstrated knowledge of the developmental stages in the individual and family life cycle and of psychosocial issues that may occur in response to changing health and dependency needs.Comprehensive knowledge of the social determinants of health and their impact on psychosocial circumstances and health outcomes. Comprehensive knowledge of leadership approaches and strategies Comprehensive knowledge of research process and methodology.Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, supervision, work direction and training.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and ability to model and foster a positive collaborative and respectful working environment.Demonstrated ability to communicate with (both verbally and in writing), and to deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, clients and their families, and external agencies.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
