JOB SUMMARY:JOB SUMMARYWithin the context of a dynamic client and family-centred care model, and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision and values of the organization, including Indigenous Cultural Safety, cultural humility and anti-racism principles, works within a Multidisciplinary therapeutic housing team for Eating Disorders on night shifts to monitor, observe, and document client behaviours, recognize unanticipated and emergent behaviours, report significant behaviours, and provide crisis interventions as required. Provides support and establishes and maintains relationships based on respect with client, their family, and their personal networks. Maintains a safe, clean, and supportive environment for clients and the team. Engages in on-going team planning and quality improvement activities. Provides ongoing support to clients to promote sleep hygiene, including assisting clients with grounding techniques, mindfulness practices, and relaxation skills.QUALIFICATIONS:QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience Grade 12, Diploma in Social Services plus one (1) year of recent, related experience working with individuals with an eating disorder or psychiatric illness, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency First Aid Certificate, Food Safe Certificate.Knowledge & AbilitiesKnowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.Knowledge of eating disorders and symptoms.Knowledge of the Mental Health Act as it applies to the rights and obligations of clients and staff. Ability to deal effectively with conflict situations, manage aggressive behaviour and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioural management techniques.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.Ability to demonstrate and assist clients with activities of daily living.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Ability to organize and prioritize.Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.Ability to analyze and resolve problems.Ability to operate related equipment.Demonstrated skill in CPR techniquesBasic computer literacy to operate electronic medical record and word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail software.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
