JOB SUMMARY:Working within the context of a client and family centred care model and the established mission, vision, values, objectives and policies of the organization, including commitments to our pillars of Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health, the Community Mental Health Clinician (Adult) provides client care to the seriously mentally ill adult population and who are at risk due to a combination of psychiatric symptoms, complex medical/social factors or significant caregiver stress. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources and other health care professionals/providers to achieve excellence in health services and education. QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Master's Degree in Health Science discipline from a recognized program. Three years recent related experience working with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid B.C. driver's license. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage reimbursement is paid.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.Working knowledge of psychiatric theory and practice within a client centered approach to the adult population.Sound knowledge of crisis intervention and community resources.Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric assessment skills.Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide case coordination.Demonstrated knowledge of counseling skills.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in the writing of reports, correspondence and other documentation.Demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize workload and adapt to a changing workload.Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient/client care.Demonstrated ability to recognize when referral to another health care professional.General of knowledge Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety. Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.Sound interpersonal skills,Ability to work effectively in an inter-disciplinary team environment.Ability to prepare case summaries and clinical records.Basic computer literacy.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
