Description

JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a patient and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, the position practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice as outlined by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) for radiologic technology.Working in a computerized environment, produces diagnostic radiographs and conducts various diagnostic procedures, either independently or in collaboration with the Radiologist and/or other physician(s). Applies best practice radiation safety principles to protect patients, staff and the general public and completes required documentation and administrative tasks. Monitors the patient during the procedures including equipment performance and maintains cleanliness of examination room. Maintains and advances own clinical competence by participating on committees/teams and approved research projects, as assigned.This work is framed within VCH’s commitment to our pillars of Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Planetary Health.QUALIFICATIONS:QUALIFICATIONSEducation & ExperienceSuccessful completion of a recognized Medical Radiography program.Successful completion of the CAMRT certification exam in Radiological Technology and/or certified with The Order of Technologists in Medical Imaging, Radio-Oncology and Medical Electrophysiology of Quebec (OTIMROEPMQ) in Radiodiagnosis.Eligible for membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesBroad knowledge of applicable CAMRT standards of practice and clinical practice guidelines.Broad knowledge of radiological technology theory and practices within a patient/family centred model of care. Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic radiographic and medical imaging equipment.Demonstrated ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards. Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to the designated modality.Demonstrated ability to use clinical practice documents organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic techniquesDemonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality. Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.Demonstrated knowledge of PACS, Radiology Information Systems and electronic health records (i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and effectively deal with patients and their families, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of external agencies.Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.Demonstrated ability to establish plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others. Demonstrated knowledge and ability in CPR techniques.Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths- based care.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
