White Oak Management is seeking a Full-Time Health Information Management (HIM) Consultant to join our growing team! With a network of 15 skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers across North and South Carolina, and a home office based in Spartanburg, SC, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across multiple communities.

What You'Ll Do

As a HIM Consultant, you will:

  • Evaluate HIM needs across facilities, including staffing, systems, and documentation processes.
  • Develop, implement, and revise HIM policies and procedures in compliance with federal/state regulations.
  • Train new HIM staff and provide ongoing education in documentation standards, EHR systems, ICD coding, and record release policies.
  • Conduct audits to ensure documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as on-site HIM support during vacancies.
  • Collaborate with QA teams, leadership, and other departments to improve HIM practices.
  • Travel regularly to support centers (up to 75% travel; overnight stays required).

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) – or credentials in a related healthcare field.
  • In-Depth Knowledge Of:

  • 2–3 years of HIM experience in a skilled nursing facility required.
  • Active AHIMA membership preferred.
  • SNF payment systems (Medicare PDPM & Medicaid)
  • ICD coding specific to long-term care
  • HIPAA, documentation standards, and legal issues related to health records
  • Strong computer proficiency and experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and comfortable managing multiple facility needs.

Work Hours

  • Full-Time | 80 hours per pay period
