POSITION SUMMARY 

 

This position is accountable for providing accounts receivable support for Orion Marine Group and its subsidiaries and divisions.  Close communication is required with all Orion marine Group offices to ensure accurate and timely submittal of information and reports.  This position will also serve as back-up for other Accounting Coordinator functions as may be required.   This position will be involved in lien process and responsible for sharing knowledge of this process with management and others as needed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILTIES

 

  • Works closely with Accounting personnel to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Applies payments to customer accounts as received from our customers and other public and private entities.
  • Processes cash and bank transactions for Orion Marine Group and its subsidiaries and divisions.
  • Processes credit memos and direct billings.
  • Monitors the accounts receivable aging report on a monthly basis, investigating discrepancies, deductions, and any unpaid items through customer and departmental contact.
  • Reconciles and posts inter-company charges.
  • Reconciles field bank statements and enters field manual checks.
  • Responds to phone inquiries that do not require the Accounting Manager’s attention.   
  • Processes monthly equipment usage.
  • Assists and serves as back-up to Accounting Coordinators and Payroll Coordinators as business demands necessitate.
  • Interfaces effectively with all Accounting Department personnel to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Provides support to Accounting leadership on other assigned projects as may be required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

 

A minimum of 2 years accounting experience is required. An Associate’s Degree in Accounting/Payroll Processing or related discipline is preferred. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of basic accounting principles, be detail oriented, possess good math aptitude, and be able to work in a team environment.  The ability to interface effectively with employees at all levels of the plant organization is critical. 

 

In addition, the individual must have 1) excellent computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Excel), 2) the interpersonal skills to work well with other employees, 3) the ability to identify accounting problems, and 4) the problem-solving skills to resolve these issues.

 

The Company expects and requires incumbent and each of its other employees to observe and fulfill the above and all other safety responsibilities and actively work toward maintaining a safe workplace.  Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

 

The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. 

 

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit the jobsite.  This may include hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices, or other equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done. 

 

The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
