Description
The Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) seeks to recruit a faculty nocturnist for its Mildred Stahlman Division of Neonatology. The Division is currently comprised of 48 neonatologist and NICU hospitalist faculty members, supports an ACGME-approved Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship training program, and maintains a robust research program. The Division is ranked by US News & World Report as one of the Top 25 Neonatology programs in the nation. Our growing Level IV NICU has up to 130 beds in Nashville, with nearly 6,000 deliveries per year. Our busy neonatal transport service brings critically ill newborns from throughout the Southeast to our Nashville campus. A growing telehealth infrastructure supports several community Newborn Nurseries staffed by pediatricians and nurse practitioners.
In addition to more standard work hours, we are open to considering candidates interested in nocturnist positions to service this growing Level IV NICU and are open to flexible scheduling. During an assigned shift, the nocturnist will be one of two neonatologists, along with APPs, residents, and fellows each night, who provide the frontline care for up to 130 patients and an active labor and delivery unit. Responsibilities of nocturnist faculty will include providing direct patient care in inpatient settings, medical education of trainees, and participation in quality improvement.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have a medical doctorate or equivalent, be board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics and Neonatology and have a strong record of excellence in clinical care. Academic rank, track, and compensation will be dependent upon qualifications. VUMC offers a generous benefits package to its faculty. The start date is negotiable, and the positions will remain open until filled.
