Description

The Department of Pediatrics and Mildred Stahlman Division of Neonatology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) seeks to recruit a Neonatologist for a level II NICU at Tennova Healthcare Clarksville.  Tennova Healthcare Clarksville is full-service hospital located 50 miles from Nashville.  The 12-bed level II NICU at Tennova Healthcare Clarksville is staffed 24 hours a day by in-house neonatal nurse practitioners supervised by three neonatologists.  In addition, a busy labor and delivery service with more than 2000 deliveries a year is located onsite.  There is also a well-baby nursery, staffed by VUMC hospitalists, adjacent to the NICU.  The specialty services at VUMC are available for consultation and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt transport team is available for the transport of infants to the level IV NICU in Nashville when needed.  The ideal candidate will be an experienced neonatologist with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, quality improvement, and education.  Previous clinical leadership experience is also desirable.

The Mildred Stahlman Division of Neonatology is currently comprised of more than forty faculty members who are committed to the departmental and institutional missions of excellence in clinical care, education, and scholarship.  US News and World Report consistently ranks the neonatal care provided by the Division as among the best in the country.  The Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt level IV NICU is a regional perinatal center for Tennessee and the Division participates actively in the Tennessee Initiative for Quality Perinatal Care. The Division supports a neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship program.

Clarksville, located on the Cumberland River in north central Tennessee, is the state’s fifth largest city where small- town charm meets a growing, vibrant downtown.  Community events, such as the annual Riverfest, along with a farmers’ market, shopping, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, coffee shops, 18 “challenge” trails, an active live music scene, and public art make Clarksville the hidden gem of middle Tennessee.  Clarksville is home to Austin Peay State University, an NCAA Division 1 member of the Atlantic Sun Conference.  Abundant outdoor activities are close by, including the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area and the “Music City” Nashville is just a short drive away.

Academic rank, track, and compensation will be dependent upon qualifications.  VUMC offers a generous benefits package to its faculty.  The start date is negotiable, and the position will remain open until filled.

The Department of Pediatrics is committed to excellence in research, education, and patient care. The Department is home to approximately 500 dedicated faculty members and providers and consistently ranks in the top ten in NIH funding among U.S. medical schools, offering an exceptional work environment with the opportunity to perform superb multi-disciplinary care, education, and research. Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is  ranked in 10 out of 11 pediatric specialty programs in U.S. News and World Report’s 2024-2025 “Best Children’s Hospitals.”
