Job Description
The Department of Youth Services is seeking a Parole Board Chairperson to lead our Division of Release Authority.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct supervision and guidance to parole board members, hearing officers, and other assigned staff; assign board members caseloads
- Direct development and facility negotiation of all review schedules; act as a board member as needed on panels; work with DYS legal counsel to ensure judicial commitment of orders comport with law and that calculations or minimum stay are accurate; serve as Chairperson for full board hearings and tiebreaker when board members differ in release decision; analyze journal entries and other commitment documentation
- Review, write, and update policy; ensure compliance with agency policy, Ohio Revised Code, and Ohio Administrative Code; analyze existing and proposed Ohio Revised Code provisions pertaining to release requirements to determine alignment with agency practices and assess the need for legislative updates or new statutory language
- Oversee compilation and review of statistical reports; utilize case management system to monitor behavior of youth between hearing date and release date; ensure notifications are made timely to appropriate parties; participate in routine meetings with facility and parole leadership
- Provide direction and supervision to Office of Victim Services; ensure compliance with policies, standards, and laws; oversee peer support efforts for agency

Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate core program in correctional work (i.e., including law enforcement, probation or parole), social work or law; and 6 yrs. exp. in law, social work or correctional work (i.e., including law enforcement, probation or parole) or in combination of three categories.
Job Skills: Board and Commission Compliance
Travel required; must maintain valid driver's license and remain eligible for state's liability program coverage.

PRE-SERVICE TRAINING:
All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services must complete three (3) weeks of paid pre-service training at our Training Academy in Orient, Ohio. The training is Monday-Thursday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm. Travel, lodging, and meals are provided.
