Team Overview
As the Data Science Manager on USDS US Trust and Safety team, you will be instrumental in ensuring that TikTok remains a safe, trustworthy, and risk-free environment. By implementing your domain knowledge, you will help diagnose, triage, and treat large-scale safety issues. You will scope out projects, use ground-truth data to inform strategies, and use data and insights to form best-in-class heuristics to proactively detect and disarm safety incidents. You will be leading the Data Science Scaled and Non-scaled Detection team's top priority while partnering with a variety of stakeholders across the product, operations, policy, and engineering teams - both locally and globally. The ideal candidate will have a background in Data Science and people management, strong technical skills and expertise working with loosely defined tasks.
Data Science Manager may be exposed to harmful content as part of their core day-to-day functions, as well as in project work; in response to escalation requests; or by chance.

In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of data scientists and investigation analysts to design and establish indicator systems for safety and risks of the platform, monitor and optimize risk coverage in the content ecosystem, measure the performance of content safety strategies and facilitate intricate decision-making
- Own large-scale quantitative analysis projects from start to finish, including developing metrics, creating analytical frameworks, creation of detection systems, bringing in external vendor or 3rd party data for signal enhancement and distilling complex results into clear and concise insights
- Drive the strategic planning and execution of long-term business plans through in-depth business analysis, industry studies and the study of market trends
- Lead and collaborate with cross functional teams through communication of data supported insights
- Grow, guide and inspire a strong Data Science team, with a high-impact and ambitious data roadmap.
