PRIMARY ROLE

The Family Advocate’s role is to support families and strengthen communities by supporting Clover families in developing and actualizing their Family Success Goals. These goals are the primary driver for advancing and actualizing the organization’s vision for educated, healthy, and financially stable communities.

The Family Advocate is responsible for supporting the Lead Advocates and the Director, Community and Family Engagement in actualizing the vision for Clover Early Learning Services and the organization as a whole. This role is directly responsible for the long-term success of our students and families, ensuring the successful development of meaningful goals, family supports, and relationships that serve to meet and/or exceed Head Start Program Performance Standards, Family and Partnership Goals, and most importantly, realize family success.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ GOALS

SUPPORT A POSITIVE AND COLLABORATIVE TEAM CULTURE

• Works collaboratively alongside their team to ensure that comprehensive services and service delivery are efficient, productive, and consistent across all early learning services and families.
• Serves as the liaison between families and the Family and Partnerships team in the areas related to family goals, community needs, financial stability, and family advocacy.
• Communicates trends that impact and affect family success.
• Works together to envision the big picture of the program by identifying family needs, and engaging in planning that increases support and systems needed to best support the team and families.

FAMILY ASSESSMENTS, DATA, GOALS, AND SUPPORT

• Advocates ensure registration and intake documents for families are completed and maintain accurate records/files and document services, including accurate entry of family data into the agency’s management information system.
• Use the Arizona Self-Sufficiency Matrix to build relationships with and identify family strengths and needs.
• Advocates facilitate initial planning to identify needs and develop SMART goals that will allow us to actualize our vision of a city and region where all young children are ready to learn and all citizens are healthy and economically stable. Advocates are also responsible for ongoing monitoring and providing additional resources, support, and opportunities needed to ensure family goals are met.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CLOVER WHOLE FAMILY PROGRAM

• Advocates support parents to increase their independence and help guide them toward post-secondary education and employment pathways/options to help the family reach economic stability.
• Supports families in creating and actualizing family success goals while ensuring program data related to goals are updated and reviewed regularly.
• Serve as an entry point for families to help them access Clover’s Career Pathways Program. The main responsibilities will be to conduct initial triage to understand if and/or how career pathways can support families in meeting their goals.
• Support all other Clover Early Learning Services as instructed by the Program Officer of Early Learning Services and/or the Director of Community and Family Partnerships by, providing targeted support, re-sharing important communications, and providing reminders in support of ensuring families are successful in all Clover offerings

HOSTING AND SUPPORTING FAMILY ENGAGEMENT IN ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

• Design, facilitate, host, and ensure engagement in events and activities that serve to promote and enhance family outcomes and increase attainment of family success goals, and increase family advocacy.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCES

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
• Minimum of two years of experience working with families in community-based Head Start and/or family-centered programming.

Salary Description $40,250 BOE
