Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Collector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and experience in medical collections. This role involves working closely with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to ensure timely collection of outstanding medical debts. The Medical Collector will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our medical practice while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient accounts to identify outstanding balances and initiate collection efforts.
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their accounts, payment options, and any disputes.
• Collaborate with insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure proper reimbursement.
• Maintain accurate records of all collection activities in the medical records systems.
• Utilize knowledge of medical coding (ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG) to understand billing processes and requirements.
• Stay updated on changes in medical collection regulations and compliance standards.
• Provide support to the medical office team by assisting with inquiries related to patient accounts.

Experience

• Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), and DRG is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for managing multiple accounts effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact professionally with patients and insurance representatives.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
