About the Role
Are you passionate about maintaining a safe, clean, and well-functioning environment? Join our team as a Building Services Officer (BSO) and play a crucial role in ensuring the proper maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our College facilities.
As a BSO, you will work alongside colleagues to undertake maintenance, repair, security, and groundskeeping tasks, contributing to the overall well-being of our facility and its occupants.
This role offers a dynamic work environment across various campuses, with responsibilities including janitorial duties, statutory compliance, security, and performance reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key holder and manage building access
- Perform routine inspections and security checks
- Operate and monitor fire and intruder alarm systems
- Conduct compliance testing (e.g. emergency lighting, fire extinguishers)
- Support reception areas and manage deliveries
- Carry out basic maintenance and janitorial tasks
- Assist with audits and inter-site deliveries
- Work alongside contractors on major projects
What We’re Looking For
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:- SIA training/qualification/licence
- Health & Safety awareness
- NVQ Level 2 in a maintenance-related trade
- Experience in facilities management, ideally in an educational setting
- Familiarity with CCTV systems and incident management
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Competent in using helpdesk and electronic systems
- Excellent customer service
- High standards, accountability, and integrity
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
