At Lyterian Therapeutics, we are committed to developing medicines for patients in need by co-opting physiologically-relevant protein homeostatic mechanisms to regulate genetically-validated targets. As Principal Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry, you will leverage your extensive experience in and passion for the discovery and optimization of small molecule therapeutics to advance Lyterian’s internal pipeline toward the clinic. You will work closely with the senior management team and be directly responsible for leading and growing Lyterian’s internal and external teams of chemists. Impact You'll Make:
- Design and develop small molecule compounds, libraries, and probes based on rigorous data analysis and sound hypotheses
- Collaborate and supervise the synthesis of designed small molecules, libraries, and probes at CROs
- Develop and contribute to company's intellectual property (IP) domain by way of patents and/or publications
- Stay up-to-date with emerging scientific literature
- Collaborate and communicate across a diverse scientific team to successfully progress Lyterian goals
Qualifications:
- PhD in chemistry with 7-10 years relevant industry experience, at least 3 years in a Drug Discovery setting
- Expertise in small molecule chemistry (structure-based and/or pharmacophore-based drug design, synthetic organic chemistry, ADME/DMPK optimization)
- Record of accomplishment in one or more of the following areas: medicinal chemistry, methodology/catalysis, total synthesis, and optionally chemical biology and physical organic chemistry
- Track record of advancing small molecule medicinal chemistry programs leading to clinical candidates is preferred
- Experience with compound scale-up and is a plus
- Understanding and utilization of computer-aided drug design (CADD)
- Initiative and boldness to dive into a fast-paced new startup
