The opportunity

Our Global Brand, Marketing & Communications team is looking for an experienced events & experiences manager to join this high performing team in the role of Global Events & Experiences Manager. As an events & experiences manager you will be responsible for delivering and guiding creative and high-profile events and sponsorship programs that align with ING’s brand. You will play a pivotal role in shaping internal and external global events and sponsorship activations.

 

The team

You will be part of the Global Events & Experiences team (consisting of 8 experts, 2 interns and occasionally an interim event manager) and report into the Head of Global Events & Experiences. Global Events & Experiences is one of the seven teams in the Global Brand, Marketing & Communications department. The team is focused on uniting ING around our strategy (internally) and in creating brand experiences that stand out for customers (externally) by delivering best-in-class events and sponsorships activations.

 

Roles and responsibilities

  • Coordinating and delivering corporate events for internal audiences – both in-person, hybrid and online including:

    • employee & brand engagement events

    • strategy, organisational & change communication events

    • Supervisory Board/Executive Board/MBB events and retreats

  • Coordinating and delivering client events: Wholesale Banking relationship marketing events and sponsorship activations.

  • Builds effective working relationships with internal clients and provide high-quality professional services.

  • Establishing good relationships with sponsorship & event managers across the local ING markets and within the ING head office.

  • Activation and event management from A to Z:

    • Advices on event concepts and logistics and its relation to the objective at hand, according to (internal) client events and experiences requests.

    • Designs and develops events and experiences and generates an action plan. Ensures that the client's objective is met in every way possible.

    • Selects, procures and negotiates on all the necessary event agency services, accommodation, catering, audio visual equipment, entertainment, decoration, branding, transport, printing, security and other facilities. Aims for good value for money.

    • Monitors – prior to the actual event – the planning, invitations, progress and quality and reports on these areas to the client. Select representatives of external suppliers and relations to participate in the project. Manages his/her budget for the event.

    • Supports for proper input of addresses, registration, invitations, printing as well as financial reporting, accounting and payments. Follows organization's policies and procedures.

    • Bears responsibility during the event for the organisation, aligns to be able to make necessary changes and is the main contact person for the client.

    • Arranges for post-event evaluation; advise the client whether the objectives were met.

    • Maintains marketing records and procedures for each event and discusses additional changes that would help improve efficiency.

    • Keeps up with the latest trends in presentation forms, techniques and entertainment applicable to the events trade and incorporates these into his/her advisory role.

We are looking for the following experience

  • HBO degree

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with a proven track record in managing impactful sponsorship activities & high-level events.

  • Experienced in working with sr. leadership and multi-disciplinary teams in fast moving and international environments.

  • Passion for events and hospitality, being able to manage a high-pressure job (prioritize) with irregular hours

  • Understanding of branding, marketing & communications

  • Experience in building strong and credible relationships with key stakeholders

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Data driven attitude: true data curiosity and the ability to derive new insights

  • Experience in third party management and coordination

  • Willingness to travel and work some evenings/weekends

  • Fluently English and Dutch (speaking & writing)

  • Tech savvy, adaptability with new technologies and platforms and an above average knowledge of (event management) systems in place (a.o. Microsoft applications, registration systems)
