Job Description
The Visual Merchandising (VM) Project Manager plays a key leadership role within the Store Environment Team, overseeing the execution of high-impact visual merchandising initiatives across Nordstrom Stores. This position drives complex, cross-functional projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with brand standards, business objectives, and customer experience enhancements. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a keen eye for design, strong financial acumen, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead end-to-end project management for large-scale VM initiatives and events, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, execution, and post-project analysis.
Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams (Marketing PMO, Event Marketing, VM Design, VM Planning, Store Design, and In-Store Teams) and external partners (vendors, brands, suppliers).
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, ensuring timely communication of updates, risks, and changes to all stakeholders.
Oversee financial transactions, including budget management, purchase orders, vendor coordination, corporate card expenses, and monthly financial reconciliations.
Manage multi-million-dollar project budgets and collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to negotiate cost-saving opportunities and optimize supply chain performance.
Foster a collaborative team environment through cross-training and knowledge sharing across VMHQ teams.
Facilitate regular project meetings to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment across functions.
Create and distribute clear, concise project documentation, including timelines, briefs, and recaps for internal teams and external partners.
Act as the central point of contact for all project-related inquiries, providing timely responses and proactive issue resolution.
Translate complex project details into actionable guidance for in-store teams, ensuring successful execution.
Escalate risks, delays, or scope changes to leadership with clarity and well-developed contingency plans.
Tailor communication styles to different audiences, ensuring effective engagement with working groups, in-store teams, senior leadership, and external vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and/ or training in project management principles.
5+ years of project management experience, ideally in retail or visual merchandising OR 5+ years of Nordstrom Visual Merchandising Manager experience. Proven ability to manage budgets and financial reconciliations with precision.
Strong understanding of procurement processes, including PO creation, vendor coordination, and expense tracking.
Experience with financial systems and tools, specifically Coupa and Concur
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, OneDrive, Sharepoint), with advanced Excel skills preferred.
Expertise in project management tools and platforms such as Adobe Workfront, Smartsheet, WordPress (NordVM), and Filemaker (internal software)
