Summary

As a Workforce Planning Lead at Hummingbird, you will guide the development and adoption of integrated workforce planning processes that align staffing strategies with business goals, operational realities, and financial forecasts. You will own our time-tracking infrastructure and planning frameworks, transforming them into reliable tools that empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. Through strong cross-functional partnerships and a deep understanding of resource allocation, you will enable proactive, equitable, and efficient workforce decisions. Your work fosters transparency, improves utilization and retention, and embeds planning as a foundational habit for leaders across the company.

In this role, you will lead complex, cross-functional initiatives with minimal oversight. You will serve as a thought leader in your domain, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and bringing forward innovative, scalable solutions. You will influence direction across teams, guide stakeholders through ambiguity, and set the standard for excellence in your function.

Responsibilities

Employment Eligibility: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Compensation: $109,000 - $133,000 per year less statutory deductions

Work Location: This position is remote. You must work from a location within the United States with consistent internet service.

Travel: 2-3 times per year for client visits, training, and company events

Job Description

Workforce Planning Integration

  • Lead enterprise-wide workforce planning initiatives that align talent strategies with organizational and client needs.

  • Convert strategic objectives into actionable plans that address both immediate operational capacity and long-term growth.

  • Surface capacity misalignments and dependencies to inform proactive planning and resource deployment.

  • Partner with Careers and Learning & Development to define pathways that build future-critical capabilities through internal mobility.

  • Ensure workforce planning remains adaptive to evolving client demands and organizational shifts through data-driven insight.

Finance Partnership & Forecasting Alignment

  • Collaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to integrate workforce data and insights into financial models.

  • Align workforce planning decisions with budget forecasts and financial targets.

  • Monitor and assess the financial impact of workforce changes on operating plans.

  • Ensure accurate, up-to-date representation of workforce shifts in all planning artifacts.

  • Bridge communication and alignment across People, Finance, and operational leaders.

Time-Tracking Ownership & Data Integrity

  • Own and evolve Hummingbird’s time-tracking infrastructure in Workday to sure time data is a strategic asset.

  • Develop and maintain clear project codes aligned with strategic priorities.

  • Implement audit processes to ensure data consistency and accuracy.

  • Translate time-tracking insights into actionable workforce planning data.

  • Align tracking methodology with Hummingbird’s cost allocation standards.

Program Design and Enablement

  • Create playbooks, templates, and governance frameworks that make workforce planning a consistent and trusted process across the organization.

  • Design tools that support workforce alignment, internal mobility, and are accessible, scalable, and easy for leaders to use.

  • Drive adoption of workforce planning tools through training, support, and change management.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline planning workflows.

  • Ensure that program resources reflect both organizational needs and equity principles.

Advocacy and Adoption

  • Serve as a visible champion of workforce planning as a strategic discipline.

  • Build trust and alignment through transparent communication and empathetic engagement.

  • Coach leaders to adopt proactive, data-informed planning behaviors.

  • Promote planning practices that enhance team health and strategic agility.

  • Position workforce planning as a shared responsibility across the company.

Team Leadership (If Serving as a Team Leader)

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and hands-on support to a small team (typically 1–3 direct reports).

  • Conduct regular 1-1s, offer feedback, and coach team members to support their growth and development.

  • Manage performance for direct reports, including setting goals, delivering feedback, and escalating concerns when appropriate.

  • Lead or contribute to hiring, onboarding, and termination decisions, in consultation with leadership and HR.

Required & Desired Skills

Required Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in workforce planning, organizational strategy, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional planning processes that connect strategy, finance, and operations.

  • Strong experience designing and managing time-tracking systems and frameworks.

  • Proven ability to transform workforce data into strategic decision-making tools.

  • Skilled at developing tools, templates, and resources that enable scale and consistency.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills.

  • Experience using Workday for workforce or planning functions.

  • Comfortable and effective working in a fully remote environment.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Workday’s Projects module.

  • Experience leading or mentoring remote teams.

  • Familiarity with financial modeling concepts and budget alignment.

  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced, high-growth environment, demonstrating adaptability and innovation.
