EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (or Two-Year Professional Program) from an AMA approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology with three years' experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist with the NMTCB and/or a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist with the ARRT. ESEENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building. Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Assumes responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures. Participates in departmental in-service and educational offerings. Contributes to the overall quality of services. 2. Ensures availability of supplies and readiness of equipment. Works with Radiology Service engineers to ensure that equipment related issues are identified, reported appropriately, and resolved. 3. Performs and assists in performing procedures and/or diagnostic tests and/or therapeutic exams using skilled techniques and following prescribed safety regulations and established protocols. 4. Maintains records and files according to procedure as required for accurate and up-to-date departmental records and/or reports. Assists Chief Technologist in identifying and correcting incorrect physician orders and patient charges. 5. Maintains coordination of activities with others to accomplish work objectives by assessing and reassigning staff to various resources as needed to meet daily demand and productivity targets. Creates work schedules as requested by Chief Technologist. Demonstrates effective teamwork skills to promote a cooperative work environment, assisting others as needed. 6. Provides instruction, education and consultation to departmental personnel, students and patients to ensure employees are up to date with required training and to ensure quality patient care is provided. 7. Provides emergency on-call coverage after normal working hours, with timely responses to emergency calls in an effort to facilitate activities between departments and to ensure prompt patient care. 8. Adheres to radiation safety policies and procedures to ensure safety of self, other staff and patients. Radioactive materials are handled and disposed of appropriately. 9. Collaborates with departmental leadership to develop, implement and communicate departmental Quality Improvement initiatives. Provides feedback to Chief Technologist regarding job performance of Nuclear Medicine staff for use during staff Performance Reviews. Receives feedback from Medical Director, either directly or indirectly, regarding personal job performance and this feedback will be incorporated into annual performance review. 10. Participates in planning by establishing personal goals to support quality improvement efforts and contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives. 11. Provides age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with Age/Development Specific Guidelines for the specific age groups served when participating in patient care.
