Job Description
The Environmental Health & Safety Technician II works with and supports the EH&S team in conducting inspections, tests and measuring hazards to help prevent harm to workers, property, the environment, and the general public. In this role, one assists in inspecting work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, local, state, and federal safety and environmental policies and regulations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine safety and environmental inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work areas to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensuring all emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers and first-aid kits, are regularly inspected and maintained.
- Assist with environmental and safety assessments and testing as required
- Collaborate with EH&S and team to implement control measures that reduce workplace and environmental risks to improve overall safety and compliance.
- Assist in collecting, preparing for pick up, and monitoring hazardous waste.
- Participates in all aspects of the EHS inspection and audit program.
- Assist with developing written procedures and trainings, and delivering trainings as needed.
- Demonstrates the correct use of personal and general safety equipment. Inspects to make sure that workers are using required protective gear, such as masks and hardhats
- Distribute safety-related materials and posters to promote a culture of safety throughout the workplace
- Other duties as assigned
Special Requirements:
- U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) required.
- Occasionally may be required to travel within the Continental U.S.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental or health and safety fields or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 1 – 2 years of experience in a related field with experience working with environmental and safety regulations, procedure and training development, and inspections
- Clean DMV record (some driving of company vehicles will be required)
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies:
- Current certification in DOT, Cal OSHA 30hour, Hazard Waste Management preferred
- Demonstrates competency in inspections and applying EHS compliance regulations to site operations
- Demonstrates competency in working with diverse groups and be comfortable speaking publicly
- Maintain a specified level of competence in EHS regulatory compliance
- Has effective problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
- Focuses on teamwork, collaboration and puts the success of the team above one's own interests
- Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties
Physical Demands

- Able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, twist, bend (Occasional)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (Occasional)
- Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)
The salary range for this role is:
$108,275 - $153,615AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
ITAR Requirement:
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”).
