General Function:

A SACC Teacher supervises, plans and implements activities for a group of children. A Teacher must meet the California licensing requirements for a SACC teacher. A Teacher may also be responsible for the supervision of a Teacher Aide. The School Age Teacher I must meet the all the Title 22 licensing requirements for a fully qualified school age teacher.

Administrative duties include:

  • Curriculum planning and implementation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized facility
  • Build positive relationships with parents and school personnel.
  • Live a culture of passion for risk management and safety

Salary Range: $24 - $25.00/Hour

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the SACC Center Director and other SACC Teachers to develop age appropriate activities for children.
  • Plan and deliver on the YMCA curriculum framework including documenting detailed lesson plans.
  • Visual supervision and care of children enrolled in the licensed program while maintaining ratios that meet requirements for Title 22.
  • Meet and greet all children and parents daily.
    • Help maintain a clean and well-organized facility.
    • Assist in creating a warm, nurturing, and inviting program atmosphere.
    • Attend all staff meetings and all training events.
    • Participate in family events.
    • Build confidence and self-esteem of the children in the program.
    • Model appropriate and constructive discipline.
    • Work as a team member of the child care center and the YMCA.
    • Assist in marketing the program.
    • Embrace and teach the YMCA values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Caring.

The physical demands of the position include:

    • Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
    • Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
    • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to climb, push, and pull.
    • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a commitment to the YMCA mission and its core values of: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility as well as a commitment to building developmental assets in adults and youth. Additionally, the YMCA values diversity, youth, and a broad vision of health and wellness which is enhanced by relationship building.
  • Must have a minimum of 12 semester units (18 quarter units) or credit hours in ECE/Child Development (classes include, but not limited to child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum), or a related field (e.g., recreation, education, or sociology). All classes must be completed with a passing grade.
  • Minimum of 1 year working in a licensed child care setting is required.
  • Certified in Pediatric CPR and First Aid (or certified within 30 days of hire).
  • Completion of YMCA child abuse prevention and injury and illness prevention training within 30 days of hire.
  • All personnel shall be in good health and shall be physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks. Verification of good healthy by a health screening, including a test for TB, not more than one year prior to their start date or three days after employment.
  • Obtain a California clearance or a criminal record exemption as required by law (from DOJ/CACI and FBI) prior to working with children and on site
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Bilingual preferred.
